The 2008 general elections was a history. For the first time BN suffered a major setback in 5 states including Selangor and Perak, which have been a traditional stronghold of the BN. I will write a short summary after this (in a way that a foreigner especially our Muslim friends in the oversea might wanted to know), but before that take a look at the result

When I was in Germany, many Moslem asked about Dr Mahathir and his works. They really impressed about him. Apart from that they always wanted to know why he sacked his that time deputy Sdr Anwar Ibrahim. So here is the short summary of the two of what they have done and contributed during Malaysia´s 12th general election 2008.

Dr Mahathir

He is not contesting. But his son, Mukhriz Mahathir is trying his first luck in Jerlun, a parliamentary seat of Kedah. Dr Mahathir was born in Kubang Pasu, Kedah an hour ride from Jerlun. He gave his bless for his son to contest and was seen during the nomination day. Mukhriz won but BN lost the Kedah state to PAS. (an islamist party)

Many said it was the Dr Mahathir who contribute to the fall of this state. He was seeing in few gatherings before the election criticizing the current ruler namely Abdullah Badawi. He expressed his sadness over what he claimed a legacy government in the making. I dont know how far is it true, but many Malaysians did not satisfied with what the current government had done.

Anwar Ibrahim

He led the opposition parties to gain power in 5 states (Penang, Perak, Kedah, Selangor and Kelantan) under the flag of his wife party´s namely Parti Keadilan Rakyat. Although Penang and Kelantan was dominated by DAP and PAS, the factor of Anwar Ibrahim can not be denied. His credibility in giving the speech has touched the heart of the citizen to raise and give their vote to the opposition parties. His wife and daughter won respectively in their contested area.

My special congratulation to all anak muda who has won their seats yesterday. Especially to Mr Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad who won the Seri Setia seat. Nik Nazmi was in the MCKK´s team during the final bahas bahasa melayu PPM 1998. SEMESTI has won the final competition that year. And I was the third speaker. hehehe…..I used to send two articles to his online magazine called Suara Anum. And surprisingly it was published along with others articles from famous person like Nurul Izzah, AMir Muhammad and etc.

As I always said, membangkang tidak semestinya pembangkang. Now they will become the ruler. Rule with just and be democratic. After all have a nice day.
